Situated in Prague 4 and surrounded by residential housing, businesses and the Roztyly metro station is the lush Kunratice Forest. This dense forest, which covers a vast amount of land, is far far away from the hustle and bustle of city life in Prague. In fact it is very easy indeed to imagine that you are not in the capital city of Prague.
If you wish to hike, run, cycle or simply stroll in a fresh green space, you do not have to travel far to Kunratice Forest. Conveniently located next to a metro station, the forest is easy to reach. The forest features lovely hiking trails that are surrounded by ancient trees, some of which are protected national trees. Furthermore the forest also features ruins of a once stately home, which is where King Vaclav IV died. In Kunratice Forest you will also find a winding stream, a large lake romantically titled Swan Lake, numerous resting areas complete with shelters, benches and playgrounds, lookout points and much more. Furthermore situated in the forest are two lovely restaurants with outdoor and indoor seating that serve delicious Czech cuisine and thirst quenching beer.
If you need to escape the city center, head to Kunratice Forest, a true green oasis where you are miles and miles away from concrete, traffic and noise.
