Průhonice Park

Often recommended as a place to take visitors, the gorgeous Průhonice Park and Chateau complex is a stunningly grand ode to formal gardens, water features, forests, and fields.

In Spring, visitors can appreciate the more than 8,000 rhododendrons in bloom, but no matter what the time of year the seasons always provide a lively and changing beauty in Průhonice, and the park is open year-round. Listed as a historical garden by the ICOMOS organization, the garden was founded in 1885, and is adjacent to the Průhonice Chateau, which is mostly closed to the public since it is the headquarters of the Institute of Botany of the Czech Academy of Sciences. Children in Prague will the perfect place to escape the city and breathe some fresh, fragrant air in this green wonderland- it will surely remind them of some of their favorite fairy-tale settings, and provides many seating areas for story-telling, or plenty of picnicking spots for a family-style lunch on the lawn. Kids will especially delight in the seven cascading ponds and looking for fish will be a sure attention-keeper. Perfect for a summer's afternoon or a winter walk throughout the 205 hectares of parkland, enriched with 23 kilometers of walking paths.

You are welcome to bring the whole family- including the family dog- since admission fees are low, children under 6 years old and persons with disabilities are admitted free, a senior discount is available for adults over age 65, and special family tickets are issued at discounted rates for 2 adults with 2 children. Just outside of Prague, this is one of the greatest family outing venues in the area, especially for families with children in Prague.
