Situated in the Prague Fairgrounds area and located in Holesovice is the Lapidary of the National Museum. Featuring over 2,000 sculptures the museum only exhibits the best 400 inside its interiors.
The Lapidary boasts a large collection of stone sculptures, most of which were sculpted between the 11th and the 19th centuries. At the museum you can see the original sculptures from the world famous Charles Bridge, sculptures from the Loreto and statues from mythical Vysehrad. The pieces are presented in eight exhibition halls.
It is important to note that in 1995 the museum placed among the top ten most beautiful exhibitions in Europe at an international competition.
