MIRO Gallery

Situated on the gorgeous Strahov Monastery grounds is the impressive MIRO Gallery. The MIRO Gallery, founded in 1987 in Berlin was moved to the Renaissance Church of St. Roch in April 1994.

The MIRO Gallery was recreated in Prague after Berlin due to generous financial assistance from the famous Czech singer Karel Gott who gave Miro Smolák the sum of one million Czech crowns in an interest free loan. Miro Smolák then proceeded to start up a fascinating gallery in one of the most beautiful settings in Prague. Since its Prague founding the gallery has hosted over 150 unique and interesting art exhibitions as well as musical concerts.

The gallery offers 170 square meters of exhibition space and aims to present international modern art to the general public. The successful MIRO Gallery has impressively held exhibitions with such heavy weight names as Picasso, Derain, Braque, Chagall, Miró, Dalí, Legér, Rodin, Magritte, Dürer, Warhol, Sokol, Svolinský, Galanda, Tichý, Mucha and others. Contemporary art from Czech and international artist is also on display at the MIRO Gallery. If you wish to see a different side of Prague art, pay a visit to the attractive Renaissance Church of St. Roch and witness bold and unique international modernism.
