Public Transport Museum

If you want to know more about the history of public transport in the territory of the Czech Republic's capital city, set off for the Public Transport Museum (Muzeum MHD), located in the tram depot in Prague's Střešovice.

In the museum you can see 50 different historic vehicles and other artifacts from the history of Prague's public transportation, such as models, historical documents, old photographs, tickets and plans. If you visit the museum with children they will be especially fascinated with the tram depot. Besides merely observing the buses, trams and other vehicles on display, they are also allowed to climb on and thoroughly explore them. Moreover, children under 6 years of age are admitted free of charge, making this a great venue for families with kids in Prague.

The tram depot building in which the museum is located is also a historic sight; it was built in 1909 and only as recently as 1992 was transformed into the current museum. The Public Transport Museum is open from Spring to Fall (the exact dates can be found on the website of the Prague Public Transit Company) including weekends and holidays, from 9 a.m. till 5 p.m.
